November 8 and 9, Wordstock in Portland, OR. I’m on a panel called “Comics and Politics” on Saturday at 1 with Spain Rodriguez, Patrick Rosenkranz and Douglas Wolk. Saturday night I’ll be part of “The 4th Live Wire Wordstock Extravaganza.” I’m going to be doing something, god knows what, onstage with Lynda Barry! This is at the Aladdin Theatre, 3116 SE 11th Ave., 8:00 PM. Then Sunday at 11am I do a presentation about my new book, Essential Dykes.

Friday October 17, 2008 The Novello Festival of Reading in Charlotte, NC. I’m doing a presentation with Harvey Pekar. That should be pretty cool! God, I love Harvey.

Monday, September 29, 2008. I’ll be doing a reading in Cambridge, MA at the Brattle Theatre for State By State, an anthology about the 50 states that I did a piece for. The Harvard Bookstore is putting the event on, and it costs 10 bucks, but it’s gonna be a whole multimedia extravaganza–along with folks reading from the book, there will be a screening of a movie about the book, and a live band. My apologies for the fact that this is scheduled for the first night of Rosh Hashanah.

Ohio State University, Columbus OH. 2007 Festival of Cartoon Art. I’ll be one of a bunch of cartoonists speaking at the ninth triennial Festival of Cartoon Art. This year’s festival focuses on the work of Milton Caniff, creator of Terry and the Pirates and Steve Canyon. His collection of comic art also formed the founding collection of Ohio State U’s awesome Cartoon Research Library.
