Reading in the RADAR series at SF Public Library tonight

I guess it’s rather late in the day to be mentioning this. But there seems to be some confusion about the date of my San Francisco event, due to some weird thing with my website.
I’m reading at the San Francisco Public Library tonight as part of Michelle Tea’s RADAR Reading Series.
Here’s some info about the evening I swiped from somewhere else: Haitian American performance poet Lennelle Moise, Cherry Muhanji (author of the classic novel “Her”), comic artist and L Word staff writer Ariel Schrag and the critically acclaimed Alison Bechdel (author of the illustrated memoir “Fun Home” and the much-beloved comic “Dykes to Watch Out For”), present their work and take questions from the audience. Hosted by Michelle Tea, who will have home-made cookies on hand. Cosponsored by the National Queer Arts Festival and the Gay and Lesbian Center.
6pm. Koret Auditorium. Be there.

damndamndamndamn. I was all set to come to this reading, but had forgotten about a meeting I had today here in Sacramento this afternoon. Damn!

And my only excuse is a late class and that I’m still writing my finals.
I feel like a medievalist version of Ginger…. everyone is off at the bookstore and library and I’m home with the computer writing about lexicographical issues in the Harley lyrics.

pisser! i was all set to come tonight but then i 2x checked after yr ‘i’m headed to denver,’ (denver right?) post, n’ saw the appearance as set for the 8th. so i thought i’d made a mistake, and was down to come friday instead.

was thinking of coming out to DC on the 25th, but that’s the day our residents are doing a fashion show, “Dress for Success — for Less” (business/business casual — this is for women who aren’t working, haven’t been working, and whose fashion sense leans towards church and evening wear). I’m the token white woman — and staff member — in a bevy of black beauties. at least I don’t have to wear heels!!
bottom line: Alison and I can both use energy for balance and confidence that day . . .

The reading was great! I am ashamed to admit it was my first time at the SF library. I now have both a signed hardcover and paperback version of Fun Home. Because you know it’s very important to have 2 copies of a beloved text. Fabulous. You were awesome and very obliging to sign books for us after the library kicked us out. Come back to SF soon : )
hey Ellen – thanks for the reminder; i guess there was a bit of a snafu ‘cuz that’s the Appearances link is ‘zactly what I *had* checked and it’d listed the San Fran date as the 8th, at least as of a couple days ago — last Tues i think.
guess i’ll just have to head to Tempe ;-> !

T’was excellent to see and listen to you read from Fun Home. It’s been so sweet to have been a big fan over the years, and then to have you come to the City. It’s different, reading someone on your own, and then seeing them read themselves live… Makes it more real. Especially as I lost my father to suicide, and had reactions that didn’t seem “appropriate” either. Wish you’d had a longer time to read/share with us. Anyway — thanks much for coming all the way out here, and thanks for being you. Been a lurker on this blog for some time… about time I showed up. Paz, Jan
