In the last thread, Deborah asked if I was making a public endorsement in today’s Vermont primary. This is as far as I’m going–it’s excerpted from the episode I just finished, 524, which will go up on 3/19.

It comes out on the 19th? But then it will be too late!
I really liked your mother and daughter “girl power vs black power” skit with Jazmine
Wait a minute? Am I the first? Wow, different timezones must have been put there for a good reason.
(the comment is from Milan)
It’s okay that it’ll be late. #524 isn’t even about the campaign, this is just an incidental look at Sparrow, Stuart, Lois, and Clarice’s yard. Which is kind of how my brain feels right now. And I’m sure that whatever happens, whoever planted the Hillary signs will not be uprooting them anytime soon.
I wondered too if you would make an endorsement. but, truly, I much prefer a new episode….so, without further ado…
Alison says, “Which is kind of how my brain feels right now. And I’m sure that whatever happens, whoever planted the Hillary signs will not be uprooting them anytime soon.”
Well played. :o)
I completely understand the split-brain feeling. I wish I could be as certain as some of my friends are about this election. I feel like I need another brain hemisphere just to balance it all out. The right brain. The left brain. And the Election ’08 brain.
Cheers,

Just relieved Stewart didn’t stick a Nader sign in there, at least that’s visible in this frame!
Oops, I mean Stuart.
I want to see Hillary Clinton get elected; but if the Republican hold on power is broken, I’ll be happy to support anyone on the Democratic ticket.
After all the problems Nader caused in 2000, can anyone take him seriously as a candidate…
Actually, what makes me happy is that I really like Obama and Clinton as candidates. Even if the worst happens, I at least *respect* McCain. After 8 years of the Shrub, things are looking up.
Wow, this picture totally captures the reality at my house! 🙂 I just had to email it to my honey…with whom, in this primary season, the political has become the personal.
I really worry. Maybe La Clinton goes down well with Joe Public. I just can’t help thinking she’s a gold-wrapped gift to the likes of Karl Rove.
Forgive me for bringing up a disgusting subject. Why did Rush Limbaugh (the disgusting subject) endorse Hillary Clinton? Was it a joke?
Thanks Alison!!! Perfect response…
And speaking of the Primary/Town Meeting day here in Vermont:
They just announced that the Town Meeting motion in
Brattleboro calling for the indictment of Bush and Cheney
passed 2012 to 1795 (it also passed 43-25 in Marlboro).
Is it just me, or is this panel absent from the strip numbered 524 that went up yesterday or so? Maybe it’s 525 that goes up on the 19th? XD
Oh no wait, the one numbered 524 should be 523. OK, never mind… XD
Here’s what a quick search reveals about the “endorsement.” Looks like Limbaugh’s usual nonsense:
“I want Hillary to stay in this…this is too good a soap opera,” Limbaugh told fellow conservative talk-show host Laura Ingraham on Fox News Friday. From what I can tell, he basically wants the Democrats to keep up the infighting.
Always do the opposite as Rush Limbaugh says!
Sherri, why do you imagine that Stuart would be a Nader supporter? I’ll bet you a nickel he’s behind the Hillary signs, and they’ll come down when you pry them from his cold, dead fingers.
I can’t see any of the DTWOF gang supporting Nader. Not that I need their endorsement to support him myself.
Alison; if this is how your brain feels right now, this is exactly how my brain LOOKS right now-Barack on one side, Hillary on the other…
Sydney might be a Nader supporter? Because she’s such a contrarian? But no, I could see her voting for McCain, though I’m not sure why.
Mo was a pretty steadfast Nader supported, even in the wake of the 2000 “election.”
Personally, though I’m a Nader supporter, I think that blaming him for the outcome in the last two elections overlooks the much more decisive factor of Republican malfeasance — the removal of thousands of mostly black voters from the Florida voter registry through sleight of hand, voter suppression, Diebold…
Frankly, I’m not happy with any of the candidates; but it should be interesting to watch the show as the Repugs unleash their crypto-racism/sexism (or, in the south, _overt_ racism/sexism) in the campaign ads.
You’re right, Hillary is still in. Ms Bechdel, you’re the best pollster.
Too bad I don’t get to vote 🙁
The Italian elections (in April) here are just so boring: no women, no minorities, no real issues. Only self described former fascists challanging self-described former communists, challanging self-described former christian democrats. It feels so much 19th century, sob.
dzieger, if I recall correctly, in 2004 the rest of the characters ganged up on Mo (in what looked kinda like a “virtual” episode) to make sure she didn’t vote for Nader.
I agree with you about what cost the Democrats the elections (or at least the victories) in 2000 and 2004, but don’t forget something that didn’t help them either, and which was not beyond their control: acting like Republicans. The Democratic Congress (which includes both HR Clinton and Obama) has not endeared itself to most Americans since 2006 by supporting Bush right down the line, with a very few honorable exceptions, and that’s not going to help them in 2008. They should be glad they’ll have Nader to blame if they screw up this time too.
