more porn!

March 28th, 2008 | Uncategorized

I was just surfing around, and went to look at the funny short film with Gretchen Phillips in it that I posted here last fall, “Car Accidents and Other Coming Out Stories.” And I saw that the filmmaker, Anne Crémieux, has another great movie up called “Ride Me Up, Ride Me Down,” which was selected as part of some Fringe Festival “Porn Open Call” Night. This is one excellent pornographic video! Especially if, like me, you’re fond of bicycles.

Fucking wonderful. Here in the bay are where queermos check one another out on their bikes pretty often, these folks rolled through about a little while ago:

  2. Bether says:

A bunch of my friends and I made several movies for (what we thought would be a small) Bike Porn film collection last summer, and it’s ended up going nationwide — http://bikeporntour.blogspot.com/

(Including a stop-motion animation drawing-on-naked-bodies film, a professorial analysis of bike-human sexuality, a bike-human silent film romance, and full-on XXX porn with/on/around bikes, among other things. It was all a ton of fun to be involved with. Point being: porn can be fun. Sex can be fun. Yay! I can’t wait to watch the video you posted — once I’m not at work anymore.

  3. Duncan says:

Bether, sex is *not* fun. It’s dirty and degrading and dehumanizing, so of course it should be done only with someone you love. 😎

  4. oceans 111 says:

It’s probably clear in most cases, but it would help me if people on this thread would be so kind as to append NSFW (not safe for work) to links that woudl be, er, better watched at home.

And please, post more of them…

  5. Hammerwoman says:

Whoa. . . I mean, what if people could look at your bike and know what you were doing and with who. . .kind of scary. . .

  6. hetero genus says:

Think i will check back when this porn thing blows over, so to say.

  7. a lurker says:

hmmm…well,I have to say bikes don’t turn me on, per se-but I like it that they get to have sex too.(I went on a date once where this film was made! How embarressing!)

  8. ready2agitate says:

Not to be a total geek but I love how the music works perfectly! (OK and the bikes were hot, admittedly.) Thanks for great fun!

PS Reminds me of the song from BETTY about bicycles (and being bi-). (which also reminds me that in skimming the ksl.com site/thread on the U of U thing, I saw the word bishop and I immediately read it as a shop for bi’s).

  9. The Cat Pimp says:

    What a charming little film!

  10. R says:

If we are promoting the works of others, has anyone else read Persepolis, by Marjane Satrapi a memoir-in-comic strips of growing up in Iran during the Islamic Revolution.

  11. jude says:

i didn’t see anything safe about that sex & unless we can assume the bikes are queer too does this mean a little trike in the future?

why is this system telling me im a cowboy who needs to slow down cause i just posted? i dint.

  12. R says:

lol…have just browsed the appearance section, alas i am in the UK.

  13. R, Persepolis is amazing. Not very pornographic, though, sadly.

  14. Pam I says:

On Persepholis, just read an interview with Satrapi in today’s London Guardian and I was looking for an excuse to post the link. Syzygy strikes again.
    http://books.guardian.co.uk/departments/biography/story/0,,2268725,00.html
    She sounds a bit scary.

  15. R says:

Hey Pam that’s what got me thinking about her today.

  16. Ian says:

Not being in the mood particularly at present I’ve not clicked the links yet, but just wondered … are people getting aroused by bikes? Or people doing rude things on bikes? Actually, in my long and disgusting career as a conna, connei, connasewer, (where’s my dictionary ffs, the shame of it all), COLLECTOR of filth, bikes do seem to have shown up quite a lot. Can’t say I’m not partial to a bit of skintight lycra myself, despite the damage it does to the environment.

  17. Ian says:

Ok, I just watched the fillum. V funny, although it dispels the myth that gay men have the monopoly on cruising and bushes …

  18. anon et al says:

    loved the spinning wheels… 🙂

oh, and Satrapi’s Persepolis 1 and 2 might not be pornographic, but the follow up; Embroideries, might count. (Although I didn’t find it *nearly* as good as the first two…)

  19. Anne says:

Wow Alison, I am going to have to start paying you as my agent or something!

My friend Agnes and I have this unavowed ongoing competition about who gets to see the new episodes first, and this morning she was really mysterious about why I needed to check out the blog again so soon after the last one…

I’m glad you all find it funny, we had a lot of fun making it. I had met Cheryl the night before, she was a bit nonplussed when I called her up to make a porn with me. We made it in just one day for a “porn open call” home-made film festival, and it showed the day after.

Someone was wondering if people are turned on by bikes somehow. I don’t know, I guess I was that time! I saw the whole film in my head while I was riding home, having been urged by the festival organizer to contribute something because the night was sold out and they didn’t have enough films to show!

ready2agitate, I’m so glad you noticed how the music works with the piece, about spinning around for days, chasing, and forgetting about tomorrow – I love Blonde Redhead and I really enjoyed queuing the film to match their lyrics (more or less)

Jude: right, both are “men’s” bikes, which was done quite purposefully to keep with the queer content, and yes, 2 boy bikes can have a trike because bikes are cool that way.

Alison, you really made my day, this is better than being accepted in any festival – and probably reaches a wider audience, too 🙂
Agnes and I were riding the RER back from work earlier, repeating how much you rock! And so does this blog, I always love reading everybody else’s comments pointing out all the cool things I didn’t notice in the strip and starting conversations about all the issues it raises.

  20. Anne says:

And by the way, Persepolis, book and film, is one of the best things I’ve read/seen lately.

  21. --MC says:

Marjane is wonderful, both her work and herself (I had the fortune to hear her speak in Seattle a couple years back, and would love to see her when she speaks here again in a couple weeks). It’s true, “Persepolis” is not pornographic at all, but pick up “Embroideries” which is very saucy.

  22. ready2agitate says:

Anyone else notice that Anne’s bike is called “Raptor”? (smile). And wow, you just met Cheryl the night before – makes the film even hotter. I fw’d the link to my friends today, so we can all enjoy. Thanks for your awesome work.

And Hear Hear! for Marjane Satrapi and Persepolis – fabulous (I just finished “Chicken with Plums,” which is heartbreaking.)

  23. R says:

i am liking this six degrees of separation thing, all roads lead back to porn, will check out Embroideries…the internets for porn!!! (Ave Q)..lol

  24. riotllama says:

and a shout-out to the Puppet Uprising!! Go philly.
for the record, I have definitely been more turned on by people’s bikes than the people themselves.
When I used to teach people how to fix their bikes, you get to say things like “would you like me to help you grease your bottom bracket?” which is awkward if you have a dirty mind.

and remember your helmets, folks. Bicycle safety is a public display of affection.

  25. Maggie Jochild says:

I’m surprised no one has posted this yet, but it’s an obvious link: Man in Scotland sentenced for having sex with his bicycle http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/11/14/nbikesex114.xml

  26. ready2agitate says:

Mmmm, this issue seems to me not to be this chap’s quote-unquote ‘having sex’ with a bicycle per se, but about his being a bit exhibitionist with his masturbation when walked in upon by two women, no? (wait – don’t answer that – I don’t want to fixate on this case.)

Hear hear to bicycle helmets. We made latex gloves sexy in the 80s, let’s make bike helmets sexy too.

ps Thanks for posting the Marjane Satrapi interview, Pam I! (I was annoyed by the focus on her size and appearance early in the article (yech), but it got better.)

I’m sure this has been discussed, but will Fun Home become an animated film does anyone know? (I seem to recall a conversation abt which voices would play which characters….)

  27. ready2agitate says:

oops, not characters (it’s not D2WO4), I meant which voices will play which people?

  28. Feminista says:

I enjoyed reading Persepolis and its sequel, and saw the well-done film in January. I find her work to be that of a very bright fiesty feminist, and am impressed at how outspoken she was in her youth. Her angry punk days represented her way of rebellion in the 80s,so she doesn’t frighten me.

  29. Alex K says:

On the eye-popping price attained by a Tintin original.

    http://www.welt.de/kultur/article1851926/.html#reqNL

There’s probably an English-language report on this somewhere, but meh. Numbers are numbers and these scrape along the underside of seven figures in US$.

Point being: BUY ALISON’S ART NOW. Its sale in years to come will let your granddaughters lead lives worthy of Paris Hilton.

  30. Anna says:

    Wow bicycles and porn.
I have been fixated to people riding bikes forever
Just realised that all the women I have dated have worked in bicycle courier firms, scary.

A friend of mine works as a busdriver, her father and mother both drive busses and so does her husband.

  31. Lisa (Calico) says:

Here’s a little mashup of FBOFW and Slylock Fox (with Cassandra the Cat). Hilarious but NSFW, unless you are self-employed!
    http://www.yo-god.com/comics/www.fbofw.com.htm

Being serious now – I would be interested in buying some of Alison’s original art…

  32. Lisa (Calico) says:

3/4 mil for a Hergé original…wow to the 16th power.

  33. sunicarus says:

Thought folks here might appreciate this Salon article.

  34. The Cat Pimp says:

OK. I have to. I can’t be the oldest person here.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xd7MVwET0QY

  35. Deena in OR says:

Oh, Cat Pimp, thank you!!! Although, at the time that that song was popular, I was actually young enough to have rollerskates with a key 🙂

  36. Maggie Jochild says:

You’re not the oldest, Cat Pimp. And what a memory jolt that was.

When I first brought home “Candles In The Rain” and put the album on the stereo, I started crying as I tried to explain the lyrics to my mother. She was completely mystified. I am too, now.

  37. --MC says:

Wow. “Candles In The Rain” is a beautiful song, I have no idea what it’s about, but Melanie Safka’s voice is brilliant, and the choir behind her nails me every time.

  38. Maggie Jochild says:

Edwin Hawkins singers. They were one of my faves in the 70s.
