Queer Comics exhibit in San Francisco

If you’re gonna be in Frisco between now and June 22, check out this great exhibit at the Cartoon Art Museum. There’s work by Craig Bostick (Go-Go Girl), Paige Braddock (Jane’s World), Tim Fish (Cavalcade of Boys, Strugglers), Leanne Franson (Liliane, Bi-Dyke), David Kelly (Steven’s Comics), Robert Kirby (Curbside, Boy Trouble), Ariel Schrag (Potential), Jennifer Camper (Rude Girls and Dangerous Women, subGURLZ), Tristan Crane with Ted Naifeh (How Loathsome), Diane DiMassa (Hothead Paisan), Roberta Gregory (Bitchy Bitch), Justin Hall (Glamazonia, The Uncanny SuperTranny), Eric Orner (The Mostly Unfabulous Social Life of Ethan Green), Eric Shanower (Age of Bronze) and David Wojnarowicz with James Romberger and Marguerite Van Cook (Seven Miles a Second).
The show will also feature “individual spotlights” on yours truly and Howard Cruse, creator of the series Wendel and the award-winning graphic novel Stuck Rubber Baby.

That sounds so cool! How I envy storytellers who can create convincing visuals to tell their stories.
You and Cruse, together? How I wish I could get to SF!
Reason #423 to visit SF soon.
I have been to the Cartoon Art Museum before. It’s a fab place.
Hey, I am going to be there towards the end of that! Are you going to be there or just your work?
So exciting that you’ll be in San Francisco. But I beg you, please don’t call it ‘frisco. It sounds like some sort of indigestible cracker or poisonous lard substitute.
Thanks for all you do.
congrats for making it on the display. I love Sydney’s comment about Brokeback — just like her. and, unfortunately, probably true. don’t imagine I’ll be out in CA which is a shame . . . I’d love to see the show.
mlk
I visited the exhibit 2 days ago, it was very powerful. I was especially moved by some comics by a man who passed away from AIDS complications before he could finish his work… a friend stepped up to complete the last bits and got it published. Many of the comics on display are any combination of dark, funny, affirming…
