Reading at Changing Hands tonight in Tempe, AZ

Sorry, I’ve been kind of slackerly about posting on this trip. I’ve hardly taken any pictures. But here’s one from the RADAR reading the other night in SF. Actually, from before the reading. That’s Ariel Schrag, standing on the left, all blurry. She’s talking to her mom, in black, gesticulating. Next to Ariel’s mom is her sister, and her best friend Toby. All three of them performed with Ariel in the reading. It was cool.

Anyhow, I’m in Tempe AZ now, and will be reading at Changing Hands bookstore at 7pm. Come!

Wow, that’s so cool about Ariel Schrag performing with her mother and sister and friend. Did she say anything about when the next issue of _Likewise_ might come out? She seems to have dropped the series in the middle. I want so badly to know what happens next! It’s amazing how emotionally attached we can become to comics characters.

  2. Erica says:

She’s working on turning Potential into a movie right now.

  3. Kat says:

I think I went to high school with Ariel’s friend Toby…..and I saw several high school classmates at the reading….it was kind of surreal.

  4. Kat says:

And hey, you can see me (sorta) and my friend in the photo…wow, a little corner of me was caught by the camera of the amazing Alison Bechdel…..wow…

I want to thank you for coming to Tempe tonight. I know the turn out wasn’t huge, but it seems like the Phoenix area is frequently passed over on author tours and attending the reading was a thrill. The time you took to answer everyones’ questions was wonderful and it was absolutely appreciated.

I love- and I mean love- Ariel Schrag’s work. It kills me to read it though. Especially since her bitch faux-dyke girlfriend in _Potential_ and _Likewise_ reminds me exactly of the manipulative bitch faux-dyke who was my sister’s first girlfriend. She used, abused, dumped her, and gave her mono in the process. And they never even “did it.” Talk about a waste of space.

i had the weirdest dream where alison had a pic of a table with a bunch of stuff on it, including a banjo. Several commented on how hot that was that she plays banjo. and then some other stuff happened, too. weird.

  12. LondonBoy says:

Michelle: Me too. Isn’t that just the strangest coincidence ? I even imagined I’d seen the next episode of DTWOF. I’m kind of glad it was just a dream, though. You know, I even remember saying in my dream that someone was going to wake up and discover that it was all “just a dream”, like in the Dallas episode…

  13. michelle says:

maybe some strange parallel universe. and it all began with that episode of Dallas…
