Cool. Someone made a Wikipedia entry for Fun Home. It wasn’t me–I would have spelled “focusing” right. But it’s very nice, and accurate to boot. I wonder who it was.

Weirdly enough, I think focussing is a word as well. Anyway, as subjects of Wikipedia can’t change articles about themselves, leave it to a fan armed with Spellcheck 😉

I believe either ‘focusing’ or ‘focussing’ is correct, just one more of those possible variations in the English language. Even my 1963 dictionary lists both as possible correct spellings, so it’s not exactly a Johnny-come-lately. I actually prefer ‘focusing’, it looks cleaner to me.

Anyhow, it has now, but not by me, been Americanised. (Yes, I did that on purpose.)

Speaking of Wikipedia and having GLBT parents, Bay Windows published an article yesterday with the headline, “Wikipedia nixes ‘queerspawn'” (a term of varying acceptance by people with LGBT parents).

Any time you want to see who wrote an article on Wikipedia all you have to do is click the History tab. Many times the user ID will be nom de guerre, but most active users have a personal page that will tell you more about them.
A Wikipedia user named 345Kai wrote the Fun Home article. On that user’s “personal talk page” someone asked him/her to leave a comment on your blog claiming credit.
Your own article isn’t accurate though, or at least I thought your brother was *opening* for Ministry, not playing for them? (BTW I’m Jaibe on wikipedia too, so, not me either 😉
Nothing to do with Wikipedia. Long, long ago Alison did a strip about trying to figure out if someone is a lesbian or not. Here’s Ann’s Rule of Makeup: Although many lesbians wear makeup, there are no straight women who don’t (with the exception of certain religious groups). Okay, feedback. Alison, what about putting something in your blog for chat?

@ Ann: Still not true. Out here in the west we have a fine tradition of strong, make-up-less women who wear fleece, drive Subarus, and go home at night to their hubbies. Makes the gaydar a little wonky. 😉
Yeah, I seem to remember the very cute stand-up comic Sabrina Matthews saying that out west she just looks like a farmer’s wife.
I see alot of straight women without makeup. So…no can do. I tend to check out fingernails…and a little twinkle in the eye. Not too many lesbos have long sharp fingernails, there are some, but not many.
As an “out west” woman…….I wear only blush………and the fingernails HAVE to be short ya know!!?? I rely on my gaydar most frequently and it’s pretty accurate. That twinkle in the eye that lingers on the face and then roves down the body to the hands…….sends chills down me! I have an uncanny knack for picking up on a look from a lesbian coming my way. And after all these years, I still blush and “preen” in my femme-type way.
As I always say, sexual orientation (butch, femme, straight, lesbian) isn’t about how you look.
It’s about how you look back.

Alison had a listing on Wikipedia long before Fun Home was published. And BTW, getting a listing on WIkipedia is no sign of acheiving fame – someone put a listing for me on there and mine is not exactly a household name. Alison Bechdel, however, IS a household name, at least in SMART households.
Canadians also tend to spell it “focussing.”
