Got ADD?

ADD

I was just reading one of the several books I’m in the middle of and idly strumming my banjo when something in the book prompted me to go do a Google search and as I stood up I noticed the cluttered tabletop and it struck me that perhaps I have a problem.

Given the depth and breadth of your creative output, Alison, I’d say you’re doing fine.

Problem?!? Dude, you can see the surface of the tabletop!!! And several of the books are clearly in a little bookstand…

    Sheesh.

    (Plectrum or clawhammer?)

No, I’m really not very cool. I only fuck around with the banjo. I strum and pluck it with my fingers, not in a proper clawhammer at all.

    crack me up…
    not one,
    not two
    but THREE open books
not to mention the magazines, newpapers, banjo
and that you were getting up amidst all of that
    to go google something!

I’m certain your attention span is within normal limits Ms Bechdel…NOT. But, don’t fuck with success. That’s all I’m saying.

It looks like organized, chaotic knowledge collection to me.

oh but you are so very cool, alison. i usually just lurk, but was compelled to mention that. i’ve always wanted to pluck around with a ukulele, myself.

get out, AB does not play a banjo. Last week when my gf and I were in Pasadena apartment hunting she bought a little red ukelele. She’s hellbent on the banjo but the uke was little and red and all of like $28. You use a felt pick to play it. She claims she’s going to learn to play during our cross country road trip…

There’s nothing wrong with seeking multiple stimuli. It’s only a problem if you can’t get what you need to do done — which it seems you can.

Besides, anyone who strums a banjo gets extra coolness points.

Looks like my kind of table. Last week I was working at home and decided it was time for lunch. I looked at the table and realized it had five books, a stack of magazines, some guitar music, a teapot, two mugs, my journal, and two laptops on it.

I ate lunch sitting on the couch.

(Also, I’m really pleased to see that you read Science News. It’s my favorite.)

g-lo, I’m sure there was much more on this thread than you’ve captured here. for instance, there was a hilarious comment by “suddenly anonymous.” and I believe Aunt Soozie had more to say about Alison and banjos.

pretty please, will you dig further?
