hometown signing

I had a really nice reading and signing for Fun Home last night at my local Bunns & Noodle, in Burlington VT. (Photo courtesy of my friend Samuel Lurie.) But it was weird reading this very intimate material to an audience filled with people I know. Somehow it’s easier reading to complete strangers.

I got up at 5 this morning to fly to Los Angeles. I’m posting this from O’Hare. You can often find yourself a nice little nook with an outlet under one of these three-pole supports that line the concourses. ohare

I was feeling pretty cool until I almost trashed my charger by yanking it out of the wall as I was posing for the photo.

Heehee…does anyone else do the girly little sigh thing when they see cute picture of Alison like this one?

LOL 🙂 Notice the empty sockets?

Ooh – she works out! Look at those arms!!

Do you know that for the past 10 years, I always refer to B&N as Bunns and Noodle? After seeing it referred to on DTWOF, I couldn’t think of it as anything else. People never get it when I call it Bunns and Noodle. I get those weird looks.

Glad to here Alison still refers to them that way 🙂

a guy named Jason O’Grady once had a project that mapped the sockets in all the major US airports. It has come in handy on more than one occasion.

Love the comments! Whew! Glad to know that I am not the only one that still refers to that store as Bunns & Noodle and…………..glad to know that I wasn’t the only one looking at those arms! Alison, any chance of you getting to Oregon? Portland or say even better, Eugene?

Deb, take the train to Seattle next weekend. It’ll be a lovefest; and you can hang out at the Solstice Parade on Saturday.
But Alison, you should have your people schedule an inhouse at Powell’s, as good as they been to ya.

Buns and Noodles – great to hear Alison read, it added a whole other dimension to the book for me. Still stunning.

I wanted to buy more books – I NEED to buy more autographed copies – but after the chirpy B&N presentor promoted the book as ‘Fun House’ (gak!), I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. Later… and from a smaller venue. *s*

    O, Mr Earbrass!

    Fun House…too fun-ee…
and yeah, that is a really sexy photo…
    tho, I suspect it wasn’t Ms. Bechdel’s intention…
    too look all sexy.

(Good thing you told us that you almost broke something taking that shot…otherwise you’d have all your fans in a cold sweat. Something’s gotta bring us back to earth. Tho I always find foibles fascinating…maybe post some shots of you and your paramour…that could help chill us out…)

    Sheeet!
First the FedEx guy and now babes are thinking you’re hot and sexy and admiring your arms. Fame is a temptress!

I noticed the Ladyslipper on the back of your Dad’s gardening catalog. That was really sweet, thanks for that Alison!

Well, the most salient thing to me is to find out AB uses a mac. Where are all the geeks, isn’t the web a computer thing? 🙂 I guess I should have known since Sydney is often drawn with one.

Actually, in the old bits of O’Hare, they hide the outlets under little trap doors on the ground, but they are easy to open. Usually in any large airport someone knows the plugs so you just look for them & then try to find a similar space.

Canadian gay boy DTWOF fan (and zillions of others) wants to know… is Alison coming to Canada to promote “Fun Home”?

    hi alison,

when are you coming to new york?! you’ve got a lot of fans here.

i have been calling bunns and noodle “bums ignoble” for years. that name came to me once at a b&n on fifth avenue, while i was waiting for the woman at the information desk to get off the phone and help me. she was obviously on a personal call, because she looked up, saw half a dozen people waiting, and said, i gotta go — i got customers all up in my face!
