two women talking to each other about a musical

November 15th, 2013 | Uncategorized

Funny, enthusiastic, thoughtful, long conversation between Patty & Emily about Fun Home which has been extended through 12/29 at The Public Theater. It’s about 13 minutes long but if you’ve seen the play it’s really fun to hear these two responding to the various actors, the music, the writing, everything.

Hi Alison, we will be seeing the show in December. Can’t wait.

Great news about the extension. I see these extensions as credit to you and forget that it is also a credit to the playwright, director, and actors! Strange on my part.

I’m curious about your relationship to this play. On the one hand, obviously, it’s an adaptation the book you wrote and drew. On the other (bigger?) hand, it’s an adaptation of your book about you and your family.

Maybe what I’m trying to ask is about the nature of collaboration once you’ve let your part of the collaborative act go. And how this connection is different when you’ve not only written the words and conceived the story, but also drawn the illustrations and seen replicants of yourself and family on stage.

So glad there’s more time! I have many friends who wanted to see it and couldn’t get tickets.

When will the soundtrack be available?

  4. Brigham says:

Seriously? I’m so psyched; maybe now I’ll get to see it.

  5. Maria says:

Saw it. Loved it. Where can I buy the cast recording??
